The active ingredient is azithromycin, a semi-synthetic antibiotic with bacteriostatic action.

Available in concentrations of 250 and 500 mg of active substance.

Oval-shaped, film-coated tablets. The following auxiliary components are used: lactose, talc, starch, povidone, calcium stearate, cellulose.

Oblong capsules with a soft gelatin shell. Additional components: povidone, crospovidone, lactose, cellulose, sodium lauryl sulfate.

Tablets and capsules are supplied in cardboard boxes of 3 and 6 pieces.

Powder for suspensions is available in bottles with a dosage of 100 and 200 mg of active substance per 5 ml. Excipients: lactulose, xanthan gum, sodium benzoate, titanium dioxide, sucrose, flavoring - strawberry, mint, apple, cinnamon.

The bottles are packaged in a box and include a measuring spoon and a syringe for dosing.

Pharmacological action

The medicine helps slow down the growth and reproduction of bacteria. When it enters the body, it penetrates into soft tissues and accumulates in them.

The antibiotic is a broad-spectrum drug. Most pathogenic microorganisms are sensitive to it, except for gram-positive bacteria, which are resistant to erythromycin. Azithromycin treats prostatitis by affecting the following types of microorganisms:

Contraindications

  • combined use with the alpha-blocker Ergotamine.

The drug should be used with caution when:

  • mild and moderate forms of renal and liver failure;
  • when taking medications (fluoroquinolones, antidepressants, antiarrhythmic drugs, digoxin, warfarin, cyclosporine);
  • with hypokalemia or hypomagnesemia;
  • heart failure.

Due to the sucrose content in it, Azithromycin suspension should be taken with caution in case of diabetes mellitus.

Side effects that may occur when taking an antibiotic include:

  • dysbacteriosis;
  • indigestion;
  • headache;
  • dizziness;
  • drowsiness;
  • arrhythmia.

In case of overdose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and temporary deafness may occur.

The use of any antibiotic must be combined with probiotics to normalize the body's microflora.

Instructions for use

The treatment regimen for Azithromycin for prostatitis is as follows:

For the first three days, the dosage of Azithromycin is 1000 mg, then, as the condition improves, it is halved. For mild renal and liver failure, the dosage of the drug is halved.
