Prostatilen is a natural-based product, available in the form of rectal suppositories and powder for injection. It is used in the treatment and prevention of many diseases of the genitourinary system in men. Instructions for use and course of treatment depend on the specific disease being treated.

Release form and composition

The drug is manufactured in two dosage forms: rectal suppositories (suppositories) and lyophilisate for the preparation of intramuscular injections. Candles are also divided into 2 types, in which there are slight differences in composition.

Composition of candles

The active component of the drug is prostate extract, which is extracted from the prostate tissue of adult bulls.

Macrogol and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) are included as additional components in Prostatilen suppositories.

  1. Macrogol is used as a base.
  2. Dimethyl sulfoxide - promotes better penetration of drugs into tissues.

The dosage of the active substance is 50 mg.

Suppositories for prostatitis Prostatilen AC also have an active ingredient. Additionally, the composition includes a chelate complex - zinc arginyl glycinate dihydrochloride. This substance breaks down into zinc, arginine and glycine - macro- and microelements necessary for the normalization of the genitourinary system.

Paraffin and animal fat are used as a base and are used to shape suppositories.

The dosage of medicinal components is 30 mg of prostate extract and 180 mg of DMSO.

Available in packs of 5 and 10 pieces.

Composition of injections

Prostatilen injections are produced in the form of a white powder. Active component – ​​prostate extract – 5 mg, excipient glycine – 25 mg.

Produced in ampoules of 5–10 pieces per pack.

pharmachologic effect

The drug belongs to natural products of animal origin. The active component has a selective effect on the prostate gland. Its properties are aimed at normalizing its functioning and improving the production of prostate secretions and sex hormones. Its use contributes to:

  • relieving prostate swelling;
  • reducing inflammation;
  • improving immunity at the local level;
  • reducing the risk of thrombosis;
  • improves the tone of the smooth muscles of the bladder.

Indications

The use of the drug is recommended:

  • with prostatic hyperplasia;
  • for prostatitis (acute, chronic stagnant, as an additional remedy for the bacterial form after a course of antibiotics);
  • as a maintenance medicine before and after operations on the genitourinary system;
  • to prevent exacerbations of chronic prostatitis;
  • to improve the secretion of prostate secretions;
  • for the prevention of prostatitis.

As a result of using the drug, after 3 days there is a decrease in pain and inflammation, and the microcirculation of venous outflow in the prostate gland is normalized.

Prostatilen suppositories for prostate adenoma help restore the frequency of urination already on the 4th day.

By stimulating testosterone production, the quality of sexual life improves:

  • erection increases;
  • sexual desire increases;
  • sperm count improves, which increases the chances of conceiving a child.

Contraindications

The medicine is considered a drug that has no contraindications (except for the age limit for use up to 18 years).

Side effects of Prostatilen are associated with individual intolerance to the components that make up the drug.

The following symptoms may appear:

  • irritation and pain at the site of application of suppositories;
  • When using injections, redness, rash, and itching may appear at the injection site.

Patients prone to allergic reactions should begin treatment with a minimum dose, listening to the reaction of their body and gradually increasing the dosage.

If side effects occur, you should stop using the drug and take an allergy medicine.

Drinking alcohol during treatment with the drug is not recommended. Alcohol has the ability to neutralize the effects of certain medications.

The breakdown of medications under the influence of ethyl alcohol into individual components has not been fully studied. At best, treatment will be useless, at worst, complications may arise.

Instructions for use

In accordance with the instructions, the use of the medicine in any form is permissible once every 24 hours.

Instructions for use of candles

The course of treatment with Prostatilen for chronic prostatitis ranges from 10 to 20 days. For hyperplasia, the duration of treatment is at least 2 weeks.

Suppositories are administered once a day after bowel movements. If you can’t empty the intestines naturally, you can do a microenema.

After administration, you must stay in bed for at least 40 minutes until complete resorption.

The duration of use should not exceed 20 days. If necessary, the course can be repeated after 30 days.

It is enough to use Prostatilen for the prevention of prostatitis for 10 days, repeating the course 2 times a year.

Instructions for using injections

The recommended duration of injections is 5-10 days.

Before administering the injection, the powder must be dissolved. Since the injection itself is quite painful, lidocaine or novocaine is used to dissolve. If painkillers are contraindicated, sodium chloride or water for injection is used.

If for any reason the use of the product is missed, the treatment is not interrupted. It is extended by the number of missed procedures.
