How to treat prostatitis with Voltaren suppositories

Voltaren for prostatitis helps fight the symptoms of the disease, which disappear in a short time. The drug belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, has an analgesic effect and relieves swelling. However, it cannot cope with the disease on its own, so it is prescribed together with other medications.

Release form and composition

The product is available in several dosage forms:

  • pills;
  • gel;
  • solution for intramuscular injections;
  • spray for external use;
  • rectal suppositories.

For prostatitis, Voltaren suppositories are the most popular form of the drug.

Suppositories are white or with a slight yellow tint, cylindrical in shape with a beveled top. Contain 12.5, 25, 50 or 100 mg of diclofenac sodium per suppository. The auxiliary agent is fat.

Each candle is packaged in a separate contour cell, in blisters of 5 pieces. A pack of 12.5, 25 and 50 mg contains 10 suppositories, 100 mg - 5 pieces. Shelf life – 3 years. It is necessary to store in a cool place, as the fat may melt, making it difficult to use suppositories.

pharmachologic effect

Diclofenac has the property of inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins. Their increase contributes to the exacerbation of pain.

Suppositories with Voltaren for prostatitis have a beneficial effect:

  • inflammation is removed;
  • tissue swelling decreases;
  • pain is relieved;
  • reduces the risk of scarring of prostate tissue;
  • restore prostate function.

Since the medicine is partially absorbed into the blood, it also affects nearby organs and tissues.

When using a suppository, relief occurs approximately an hour after administration. When taking tablets, the effect appears no earlier than 4 hours. If you need to relieve acute pain, it is best to start treatment with injections and continue with suppositories.
