How does heat work for prostatitis and adenoma?

You can warm the prostate during prostatitis by adhering to certain rules and without any contraindications. This effect has a rather weak therapeutic effect, but can be harmful, so it is allowed for use only after consultation with a doctor.

The effect of heat on the prostate gland

You can warm the prostate during inflammation, however, you should not rush to take any action on your own at the first symptoms. The most important rule is to do no harm, and heat for prostatitis has both positive and negative effects.

First of all, you need to undergo an examination, find out the cause, the extent of the disease and consult a doctor on the recommended methods of therapy. In addition, it is possible to treat prostatitis with heat only in combination with medications, because this procedure as the only method is not capable of providing a sufficient positive effect for a complete cure.

The benefits of warming up

Warming the prostate during prostatitis can have the following positive effects:

  • improvement of blood flow in the pelvic area;
  • muscle relaxation, spasm relief;
  • reduction of edema;
  • stimulation of metabolic processes;
  • pain relief.

You can warm a chronic prostate adenoma, abacterial prostatitis, and use similar procedures to prevent the occurrence of prostate pathologies, especially with a sedentary lifestyle.

Harm and contraindications

Treatment of prostate diseases with heat is prohibited in the following cases:

  1. Bacterial origin of inflammation.
  2. Exacerbation of the disease.
  3. The presence of malignant neoplasms (cancer).
  4. Abscesses (abscesses).
  5. Thrombosis.

The use of heating can have the following negative effects:

  • increased pain;
  • accelerated tumor growth or increased inflammation;
  • spread of infection to neighboring organs and tissues;
  • breakthrough of purulent cavities (if any).

If during their implementation an increase in the symptoms of the disease is noticed, the procedures should be stopped immediately.

Warming up methods

There are several ways to use heat to treat prostatitis and other diseases:

  1. Bathing in hot baths.
  2. Visiting a bathhouse or sauna.
  3. Administration of enemas.
  4. Using a heating pad or other similar devices.
  5. Soaring legs.

Each product has its own nuances of use and has a slightly different effect from others.

Hot baths

You can warm yourself in the bathtub if you have prostatitis, but the maximum temperature for prostate diseases should be relatively low. For an acute form of prostatitis or exacerbation of adenoma, it should be slightly higher than body temperature - 37-39 °C. In case of chronic disease, a gradual increase to 40-42 °C is allowed. In this case, the level of the heart must be higher than the water level, otherwise the body will heat up more intensely, which can have a negative effect. The duration of procedures should not exceed 15 minutes. Along with temperature effects, you can use herbal medicine by preparing and adding decoctions of medicinal plants to baths - chamomile, aspen, pine needles, lavender, St. John's wort, etc.

Bath and sauna

These methods involve stronger heating of the body, so they are rarely recommended. And while visiting the bathhouse is still permissible (if the temperature in the steam room does not exceed 60 °C), then going to the sauna is prohibited (where the temperature exceeds 70 °C). The frequency of visits should not exceed 1 time in 2 weeks, and the total duration of stay in the steam room is 15 minutes. It is advisable to break it into 3 parts for 5 minutes each, between which you wash with warm water. Diving into cold water and using snow is strictly prohibited.

Enemas

The use of microenemas does not involve heating the compositions to high temperatures. Typically it should be slightly above body temperature and feel “slightly warm” (37-39°C). In addition, the beneficial effect in this case is not thermal. Compositions for microenemas are usually prepared on the basis of medicinal plants or drugs; when administered through the rectum, more intensive absorption by the prostate gland occurs.

Too high a temperature in this case will lead to painful sensations during the process, and can also cause more serious complications in the intestines.

Using Direct Heat

You can warm the prostate with a heating pad, however, this will not have a noticeable positive effect. The method can be used for the prevention of diseases, this is especially important with a sedentary lifestyle, because it stimulates blood flow and eliminates stagnant processes that can form due to physical inactivity.

The heating pad for prostatitis should not be too hot - the water in it should be 42-43 °C, otherwise, instead of even a slight positive effect, it will have a rather negative effect. Prostatitis can also be treated with a hot bottle or other containers of warm water applied to the perineal area.

Foot baths

You can steam your legs with prostatitis, but it has even less positive effect than using direct heating. There is an increase in blood flow in the lower extremities, however, in the pelvic area it practically does not improve.
