Unidox Solutab for prostatitis is prescribed to destroy the pathogenic microflora that caused inflammation. The drug acts against a wide range of bacteria. Most often used at the first signs of acute prostatitis.
Release form and composition
The product is available in the form of round tablets, convex on both sides. The color is from light yellow to brown, there are inclusions. On one side there is a medication marking - 173. The prefix Solutab means that the tablets dissolve in the mouth or water.
The active component of the drug is doxycycline. Each tablet contains 100 mg of active substance. The following additional components and fillers are used: lactose, cellulose, saccharin, magnesium stearate, hyprolose, hypromellose, colloidal silicon dioxide.
The tablets are sold in cardboard boxes of 10 pieces.

The medicine belongs to the semi-synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotics from the tetracycline group. Shows a bacteriostatic effect on many types of infections. Affects bacterial protein synthesis, which interferes with the growth and reproduction of pathogenic microflora.
Active relative to:
- Nisseria;
- Klebsiella;
- mycoplasma;
- staphylococci;
- streptococci;
- listeria.
Indications
The antibiotic is prescribed only to treat diseases caused by bacteria sensitive to doxycycline. Prescribed for the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases:
- genitourinary system (bacterial prostatitis, endometritis, cystitis, urogenital mycoplasmosis);
- respiratory system (tracheitis, pneumonia, lung abscess);
- skin and soft tissues (acne, purulent wounds, postoperative complications);
- gastrointestinal tract (gastroenterocolitis, cholecystitis, cholera);
- infectious eye diseases;
- other diseases (anthrax, whooping cough, peritonitis, malaria).
Contraindications
Contraindications for the use of the medicine include:
- intolerance to tetracyclines;
- allergy to the components of the tablets;
- porphyria disease;
- liver failure;
- decreased leukocyte levels;
- kidney dysfunction.
The most common side effects may be:
- allergic reactions (itching, urticaria, rash);
- disruption of the digestive system (nausea, vomiting, weight loss);
- bowel dysfunction (constipation, diarrhea);
- changes in blood composition (increased bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase).
Not compatible with some medications. It is necessary to avoid simultaneous use with:
- other antibiotics;
- Cholestyramine and Colestipol (reduce the absorption of the antibiotic);
- drugs that depress the nervous system (reduce the antibacterial effect);
- vitamin A (increases intracranial pressure).
Instructions for use
It is recommended to take Unidox Solutab for prostatitis only after identifying the causative agent of the disease.
The instructions for use of Unidox Solutab indicate a maximum dosage of 200 mg/day.
The treatment regimen depends on the severity of the disease.
For severe infection, the maximum dose of the drug is prescribed. It must be divided into 2 doses - morning and evening, 2 hours before bedtime.
It is advisable to take the medicine with food, as there is a risk of irritation of the gastric mucosa. Take plenty of water or dilute the tablet in a glass of water.
At the initial stage of infection, the first dose is 200 mg/day, then 100 mg once a day.
The course of treatment with Unidox Solutab for prostatitis is 5-10 days. Then you need to take repeated tests. If the infection is not completely destroyed, treatment may be extended.
When taking antibiotics, it is necessary to take probiotics to restore intestinal microflora.
