How to perform Kegel exercises for prostatitis and prostate adenoma

Gynecologist Arnold Kegel created a set of exercises for women to strengthen the bladder and perineal muscle corset. As it turned out, these activities are also useful for men. Kegel exercises for prostatitis help improve blood circulation in the pelvic organs and quickly get rid of the symptoms of the disease. They are part of a set of physical therapy sessions prescribed by doctors.

Do Kegel exercises help?

As a result of weakening of the muscle corset of the perineum, blood circulation in this area deteriorates, in addition to impaired erection and urination, this can lead to the appearance of abacterial prostatitis (chronic pelvic pain syndrome) or become a provoking factor for inflammation when bacteria enter.

When performing gymnastics, work is done with the pubococcygeus muscle, which is responsible for the position of the bladder and prostate and maintains the tone of the pelvic organs.

Kegel exercises for the prostate are useful because they promote:

  • strengthening the muscular corset of the pelvic floor;
  • improving blood circulation in the pelvic organs;
  • reducing swelling of the prostate gland;
  • increasing potency;
  • increasing the duration of sexual intercourse.

Treatment of prostatitis with Kegel exercises speeds up recovery. When taking medications, performing this complex promotes the rapid distribution of drugs to the site of inflammation.

Kegel exercises for prostate adenoma help to cope with bladder dysfunction caused by prostate swelling. It becomes possible to control the process of urination:

  • achieve complete emptying;
  • avoid urinary incontinence.

Kegel exercises for chronic prostatitis help improve blood circulation and eliminate congestion in the organ. This will lead to a reduction in symptoms and an improvement in the effect of therapy, and exacerbations of the disease will occur less frequently.

They are also useful for the prevention of all diseases of the male genitourinary system, especially with a sedentary lifestyle and lack of regular sexual intercourse.

Contraindications

Despite the fact that the Kegel complex for men with prostatitis helps to quickly get rid of the symptoms of the disease, its implementation has some contraindications:

  • postoperative period;
  • acute phase of the disease (during this period complete rest is necessary);
  • purulent prostatitis (rupture of the abscess may occur);
  • calculous prostatitis (the presence of stones in the prostate will cause severe pain).

You cannot perform gymnastics with a full bladder.

If in the first days after starting the exercises there is a deterioration or an increase in symptoms, they need to be stopped.

How to perform a set of exercises

Kegel exercises for men with prostatitis can be performed in your free time and anywhere. It consists of movements that are aimed at strengthening the muscle tone of the perineum. They are done by squeezing, relaxing and pushing out actions.

In order to understand where the pubococcygeus muscle is that needs to be tensed, you can conduct an experiment:

  • When urinating, try to block the stream flow. The muscle that will tense during the cessation of this process is the pubococcygeus;
  • During an erection, you can try to make pendulum movements with your penis.

In order to make sure that the exercises are performed correctly, you need to press your hand on the lower abdomen (just above the pubis). If you feel movement inside, then you are doing everything right.

You can do this several times a day, starting with 10 repetitions. Gradually it is necessary to increase the number of repetitions to 20. It is undesirable to do more repetitions, this can lead to overwork.

There are several rules that must be followed when performing gymnastics:

  1. The main rule in gymnastics is local work of the pelvic floor muscles. When performing, do not strain your buttocks or abs.
  2. No need to hold your breath.
  3. During exercise, when retracting the muscles, you need to imagine a load that rises up.
  4. Between approaches you need to take a break of 15-20 seconds in order to avoid overwork.

Kegel exercises for prostate adenoma bring results after some time. In order to feel the effect of classes, you need to exercise every day for at least a month. Since these muscles are no longer involved in any physical activity, the results achieved are quickly lost.

Initial lesson

This exercise is considered the initial exercise in the complex. During its implementation, the man begins to understand where the muscle is and learn to work with it. You can refuse it in the future.

When urinating, periodically stop urinating for a few seconds. Frequency 2-3 times per trip.

Classic approach

While standing or sitting, while inhaling, tense the pubococcygeus muscle, and while exhaling, relax it. Start with 5 repetitions. As strengthening progresses, increase the number to 20.

Pull - push

Do everything as in the first case, only inhale and exhale should be slow. Between them it is necessary to make a delay of 5 seconds and keep the muscles tense.

Tremors

Performed after achieving results in the third exercise. Rapid muscle contractions and relaxations are produced. Do 10 times, repeat after a short break. Do 2-3 approaches.

Pushing

We repeat the fourth lesson, but the compression should be as slow as possible and the relaxation should be fast. When maximum compression is achieved, the tension must be maintained for as long as possible.
